HotStakes reviews online casino operators from public information only. We never open an account, deposit, withdraw, play for money or contact an operator’s support team. Every review says exactly what we checked, on which date, from which source, and what we could not verify.
Why we never deposit or withdraw
Many review sites say their reviewers “tested deposits and withdrawals” but show no proof. We think a claim you cannot check is worth little. So we do not make it. Instead we limit ourselves to things anyone can verify: the operator’s own pages, its terms, public licence registers, regulator warnings, complaint sites and news. Where something can only be known by depositing real money (for example how fast a withdrawal really arrives), we say so plainly and quote what the operator states, labelled “as stated by the operator”.
Our research steps
- Licence. We note what licence the site claims (footer, About page, terms) and look it up on the regulator’s own public register (for example PAGCOR, the Curaçao Gaming Authority, the MGA, Anjouan, the Isle of Man GSC or the UK Gambling Commission). The result is one of: “Verified on <register> on <date>”, “Claimed but not found on the register”, or “No licence shown”.
- Games. We check which Hotdog Gaming, StakeGO (Yeebet) and Pretty Gaming titles appear in the public lobby, with the page URL, plus other major studios we saw.
- Bonuses. We read the promotions page and bonus terms: wagering (how many times, on what), maximum bet, game weighting, expiry, maximum cashout and country exclusions. We work one example with our wagering calculator. Terms in another language are translated and marked as translated.
- Payments. Deposit and withdrawal methods, limits, fees and times exactly as stated by the operator. We never call a withdrawal “fast” or “tested”.
- Safety and reputation. We search for scam and withdrawal complaints in English and local languages, check complaint sites, regulator warnings and news, and summarise what we find with sources and dates. Allegations are labelled as allegations.
- Responsible gambling. Deposit limits, self-exclusion, cool-off, age checks and a responsible-gambling page: present or not.
- Site and mobile. Languages, currencies, how the site looks on a 390px phone screen, KYC requirements as stated in the terms, and the support channels listed (not tested).
The HotStakes Score (out of 10)
Every review uses the same fixed checklist. The breakdown is shown in every review.
| Area | Points | What earns points |
|---|---|---|
| Licence verified | 0–2 | 2 = found on the regulator’s public register; 1 = credible claim with partial evidence; 0 = not found or none shown |
| Safety & reputation | 0–2 | Based on complaints, warnings and news found, and how much public history exists |
| Bonus fairness | 0–1.5 | Wagering, max bet, caps and clarity of terms compared with the typical market |
| Payments transparency | 0–1 | Methods, limits, fees and times clearly published |
| Responsible-gambling tools | 0–1 | Limits, self-exclusion, cool-off, age checks, RG page |
| Our studios & game range | 0–1 | Hotdog Gaming, StakeGO/Yeebet, Pretty Gaming and breadth of the lobby |
| Transparency | 0–1 | Clear terms, named company, address and contact details |
| Site & mobile | 0–0.5 | Works and reads well on desktop and a 390px phone |
We do not publish “player ratings” or user reviews we cannot verify. If research finds serious safety problems (credible non-payment reports, a regulator blacklist or a fake licence claim), we do not publish a review; we publish a sourced scam alert instead.
Reviews and listings are never paid
No operator can pay to be listed, reviewed or scored. Reviews are refreshed at least every 60 days, or sooner when an operator’s offer or terms change. Each review shows its “Last checked” date.
